The Boss Remembers Barrie

It’s approaching 6 months since the sudden loss of As Paradise Falls guitarist and close friend to many in the Brisbane heavy music scene, Glen Barrie.  A true gent in the heavy and, at times, unforgiving world of music.

Mannequin Republic managing director, Tom Byrnes, who is a frequent guest contributor to underground music media outlet I Probably Hate Your Band, recently reflected on the memory of Glen Barrie and the kind of man he was off stage.

The article touches the personal interaction between a musician, a band and their manager, his hopes for Glen’s memory in the future and how, for one night, the music industry came together to celebrate all that is positive about the heavy scene in Brisbane.

We hope you will all take a moment to read the article over at and reflect on a great musician and the memories of a good friend, as seen through the eyes of someone who managed his career for an all too short time.
