September Sessions

Posted on by Mannequin Republic

After the success of last month’s First Thursday Recording Club at the Jubilee Hotel, which included an awesome set by Mannequin Republic’s own The Jon Experiment, the event is happening again for September.

This month’s line-up includes ska band The Fun Team, Gold Coast metal band Reskale, seven-piece rebel rock outfit The Great Shame and representing the Mannequin Republic family: Hack, who always put on an insane live show.

It all happens upstairs at the Jubilee Hotel (470 St. Pauls Terrace, Fortitude Valley) at 7:00 pm.  First band goes on at 7:30 and bands change every hour.  Entry is only $10.  Tell the person at the door you came to see Hack then scream your lungs out while the whole show gets recorded live!  See more on Facebook.… more...

The Last Outlaw On YouTube

Posted on by Mannequin Republic

Mannequin Republic would like to thank our good mates at Liberati Productions for putting together the wicked new video clip of The Last Outlaw performing “Now We’re Cooking With Gas.”

The video was filmed live at Club 299 a few weeks ago where a heap of crazy punters turned up for a night of hardcore rock and metal.  Go have a watch at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l2e2KT0SzA.

Thanks again to Liberati Productions for all the hard work that goes into their videos and for being part of the Brisbane music scene.  We encourage anyone interested in having some live video done to get in touch with them, they know their stuff.

Band Promotion 101

Posted on by Tom Byrnes

I got asked not long ago what it takes to promote a band. The truth is: not much. The hard part is setting up a show, putting bands on, hoping it will work out and that you recoup your losses. There really isn’t any excuse for promoters, to suck at promotion. But it happens so often.

Obviously, Mannequin Republic is in a great position with a steady of flow of ‘likes’ on Facebook, heaps of followers on Twitter and a cracking website. I’m extremely proud of the website and am constantly surprised at the amount of hits it gets each day.

I used to put on heaps of shows; punk, rock, hardcore, metal, you name … more...
